straw man fallacy is committed when Dawkin discusses the religious beliefs that perpetuate the promise of the afterlife. He distorts their religious position on the afterlife and simplifies beliefs, claiming that "a special martyr's reward of 72 virgin brides, guaranteed, eager and exclusive" is enough for young testosterone, sodden young men to fall for". Also consistently throughout the entire article, he distorts various other religious beliefs, making unsubstantiated claims such as "a martyrs death is equivalent to pressing the hyper space button and zooming through ...to another universe". It is clear that Dawkin himself is not a religious believer nor a believer in the afterlife ("a complete and self-consistent background mythology ...to make the lie seem plausible") thus, this may help explain Dawkin's misconceptions surrounding religion and its' beliefs .
