geographys effect on society

Geography has played an important role in the growth and development of ancient civilizations in the Middle East in many ways. These ways include natural defenses, the deserts, and a water supply, the rivers. The geographical features also played an important role in ancient Middle Eastern civilization because of its location. Since it was in the middle of the three Northern continents, Europe, Asia, and Africa, it was easy to trade with. The location of the Middle East is a vital part of it

These caravans could have more than 100 camels at one time. Its rivers, the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates, provided fertile land of which crops can be grown on. The location and geographical features of the Middle East made it a great place for early civilization. It connected three continents so money wasn't an issue. Also if you have a river, it makes fertile land. Rivers also provide water which was a necessity because they were in the desert. If the civilization was in the middle of a desert without water it would definitely collapse and die out. You can also use rivers to irrigate your crops. In fact the ancient Middle East was one of the wealthiest civilizations of its time, and maybe even to this day. The deserts made travel and trade difficult but that just drove the people to find out a way to overcome an obstacle. They used camel caravans to cross the deserts. The Middle East is basically all desert, so the civilizations need the water from the rivers. It is a bridge to three other continents making it a very nice place to trade. Being near a river, or other source of running water, was in ancient civilizations.
