Your Health & Managed Care
AHCA HMO ReportAccording to the AHCA HMO Report the health plan that I would choose, as an employer based on the data collected would be AvMed Inc. AvMed is Florida's oldest and largest not-for-profit HMO, serving some 300,000 members, including approximately 30,000 Medicare members throughout the state, and 10,000 federal employees and their dependents. AvMed contracts with close to 7,000 physicians and 126 hospitals, is federally qualified under the terms of the federal HMO Act, and is privately accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. AvMed was created in 1969 as a prepaid health care system for pilots in Miami's aviation industry. Today, AvMed is Florida's largest not-for-profit health plan. AvMed, whose name is derived from "aviation medicine," became licensed as an HMO in 1973 and earned Federal qualification in 1977. After reviewing the information and statistics on the various health plans, I choose AvMed Inc. because it has an overall high rating
Health Plan (HMO), the co-payment for your primary physician visit is $10/$15. Lauderdale, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. The data collected from the member satisfaction, quality of care indicators, financial information and complaints section of the AHCA HMO Report helped me decide on selecting AvMed as the health plan I believe would be best for my employees. Reviews of (100) claims processed by the AvMed company system were examined and there were no violations. There were slight margins in complaints when compared with CIGNA, and Humana, but this does not have any relevance on the quality of service in the different categories. There are special programs to assist members with specific health problems, and their Disease Management Program assists members who have congestive heart problems, Asthma and also High-Risk pregnancies. This is not uncommon when it comes to providers. did not rate under the Florida Medicaid Asthma medication for long- term care; all other areas were covered above average. Managed care plans have tremendous capabilities for getting information and resources out. AvMed encourages and also covers preventative health care services, including mammograms, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings. There are also covered immunizations and other preventive tests. total assets were $180,085,511, and total liabilities were $126,757,724.
