            In today's industrial world, a lot depends on an individual's status in the society. Everything from what he has to wear to how he has to behave is decided by his social status. Naturally, religion that is a major part of everyone's life also follows the same pattern. In the present scenario a person's ability, skills and responsibly decide how high a position of power he holds: is he on top, or does he play a subservient role. So, religion being a human phenomenon that itself rises out of life experiences and ideas of individuals should also be expected to have some dependencies on a person's ability, or more precisely his social class. The relation between social position and religion can also be related to real life examples. One of the most striking examples of diversity in religious beliefs as a direct result of life experiences and social standards one comes across is between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X as we shall see later in the paper.
             The "religiosity" of human behavior cannot be understood without considering the multiplicity of its manifestations. To behave "religiously" can vary a lot from culture to culture, from religious group to religious group, and also individually. Different sociologists present different views on the subject. According to Marx, religious institutions are dominated by the ruling class of that society and hence lead to the preserving of class structure. Even Durkheim sees religion as the foundation for social order. Thus to deal competently with the complexity of this matter, the studies of 'Glock and Stark' and their demarcation of religion into distinct dimensions is a good place to start with.
