Whenever Catherine and Heathcliff talk about their love, their tone is high and wild. builds from their childhood until the untimely death of Catherine. This journey into the psyche encompasses the entire novel in Emily's work Wuthering Heights. In Jane Eyre, the Bertha figure is consumed par in fire and our heroine goes off to be married. Not until Jane Eyre do we see a central female character who goes through a systematic progression of self-worth and awareness.
