             "Mother to Son" "The Child's Sight"
             Poetry is soothing to the soul; it relaxes and calms. In stressful times, it can be a quiet escape into a peaceful state of mind. Although poetry isn't for everyone, many people use it to express their feelings either for themselves or for others to see. Usually the intention of a poem is to get across a message. One of the great things about poetry is its timeless value, and people being able to write absolutely anything without fear. Poetry doesn't have to be shared it can just be a recording of your thoughts, just as music can be.
             This essay will be comparing and contrasting the two poems. It will compare the messages, modes, writing style etc. along with a short paraphrase of each poem.
             Listen son, life hasn't been easy for me it has had obstacles, and many things in which I have had to overcome. Throughout it all I've moved on getting past the hard times, never give up, or else you will be left behind.
             Don't overestimate children, we can learn from what they say and do, untouched from society's views and stereotypes, they say it like it is; not thinking of the consequences. A child's mind is unbiased and honest listening to every word for what it is. Imagination is strong, and hasn't lost its edge, they do not judge me for my past but rather for who I am, they have given me back my life.
             If we look at the similarities of the two poems we see that each references to children. They both also are reflective poems giving us glimpses into what each of their lives were lived like. Each speaks about wisdom, although the poems reflect the different values behind the two people.
