Description Of The Business The business, which I have chosen for this assignment, is Amman Foods Store, which is located at 37 St Helens Rd, Swansea. The business is a small family run business, which sell groceries and a number house hold goods as well as fresh meat and vegetables. Working together with the owner of the store Mr Amman Rossay is six part-time cashiers, two butchers, a shelf stocker and a manager. As well as this they have two additional staff one of which is an accountant which deals with the accounts of the business and lets Mr Rossay know how well the business is doing also he has an IT technician that comes in weekly who deals with any technological details of the business such as inputting staff and product information onto the computer. There is a lot of competition for the business as nearby there are a number of other stores such as Asia World, Halal Foods Store, Exotica and Spar. History and Development The business first opened in February 1996, when it was a very small grocery store and was owned by Mr Maroof Rasul, the store was then called Bangla Bazaar. Before Amman Foods Store used to keep account of all the products which he sells in a file. Also it is now easier to update any changes to the product such as its price. New tills have been bought into the shop so that now cashiers just have to scan the product instead of just typing in each individual products price. However it may involve loss of discounts for prompt payment. · The owner has to pay income tax on the net profits, and VAT if the turnover is over the prescribed VAT threshold.

Stock includes the business' holdings of raw materials (inputs), semi-finished products and also finished products that it has not yet sold. When the government has to raise the prices of petrol for some reason or another this also has an impact on the business as the store offers a delivery service the cost of this delivery service is at a fixed price however since petrol prices have been increasing they are forced to change this price. This was mainly due to workers sensing belonging and the un-weighed desire for higher pay and the need for many to reach productivity targets.
