There was much tension and discrimination between Jews and Gentiles. The Jews did not accept Gentiles. Gentiles were considered unclean because they did not follow the Jewish dietary laws and custom of circumcision. Gentiles heard God' s message that heaven is here now if we follow the golden rule and that all people are equal in the eyes of God. In God's eyes, even Jews and Gentiles, who were enemies at the time, were considered equal. Now Gentiles wanted to be followers of the way. They heard God's. This continues to prove that Jesus' message is still very popular among the people and it is still alive.
             Many of the Jewish people became confused. They could not grasp the idea of how Gentiles, who did not follow the laws of diet and circumcision, could ever become followers of the way. These laws were given to them directly by God.
             The first crisis of the Church became evident after an incident that had occurred in Cornelius' house. Cornelius, who was Roman and a Gentile, had St. Peter at his house. Peter had a vision in which he saw a table filled of unclean animals for bidden by Jews to eat. Peter, who was a strict Jew, and followed all Jewish customs, was appalled at this vision, for Jews do not even associate with Gentiles. Peter then made a speech saying that God declares everyone to be the on the same basis. Gentiles, those not chosen by God were considered the same as the Jews. V.44 tells of the Gentiles receiving the Holy Spirit. This feast was almost identical to the Jewish feast of Pentecost where Jesus apostles received the Holy Spirit. Like at Pentecost...
