             Fairchild unveiled the Video Entertainment System in 1976. This system faceted 21 games that could be played using your television as a monitor. Pong, a video version of Ping-Ping was the most popular. By 1977 the home video game market exploded but then crashed in the 1980's due to the rise of home computer gaming. Home gaming competition got crazy as a number of different companies joined the march. These new companies were developing console systems with games that had graphics that were better than those of a computer game. This made competition tight.
             In 1990 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) dominated the industry. Sega competed with the Genesis system in 1993 and this started the fire of home gaming. Now, all of the different players in the industry were going to produce the best hardware and software. In 1995 Saturn came out with a system that had a 32-bit of memory, but it disappointed consumers; a few reasons were late delivery of product and the high price of the system. This facilitated Nintendo and Sony to show what they could do.
             Sony Playstation was introduced in 1994 and by 1999 70 million homes worldwide had a Sony Playstation. Sony had a extensive selection of games – almost 3,000. Playstation had 32-bit graphics that of course appealed to an older customer. At one time almost one-third of Playstation owners were over 30 years of age.
             In 1996, Nintendo 64 was released to compete with Playstation. Nintendo 64 had 64-bit graphics and was found in over 28 million homes by 1999. 64 limited the amount of violence and adult content to be drawn to the younger consumer, but had no were near the amount of compatible games that Playstation had.
             In 1999 the dominating systems were; Sony at 56%, Nintendo at 42% and Sega at 1%. This made Sega decide to defeat the competition. Sega Dreamcast was in stores by September of 1999. Within four months 1.5 million units were purchased. They made plenty of prom
