Movies Sales Program Formulation, Evaluation, and Control

             The movie industry offers a very different type of product when compared to most other industries. Instead so having a huge amount of products and warehouses of inventory, not to mention distribution centers, they have only a few huge products each year. The products are the movies themselves; the distribution centers are the theaters in which they are housed. Our focus remains on Time Warner and Disney. Time Warner consists of the production companies Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema while Disney distributes their movies under Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Disney Toon Studios, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Miramax Films, Dimension Films, and Buena Vista International.
             The control systems of the movie industry come from the rating that must be put on each movie released. These ratings include G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17. G suggests that the movie is viewable by general audiences and that all ages are admitted. PG is for parental guidance suggested due to some material not being suitable for children. PG-13 claims that parents are strongly cautioned because some material may be inappropriate for children under 13 years of age. R stands for resisted; if you are under 17 years of age, you must be accompanied by a parent or adult guidance. NC-17 admits no one 17 years of age or under. These guidelines come from the Motion Picture Association of America. The industry now makes every production company first voluntarily select the rating of the movies they plan to release and then have them approved by the association before the movie can be released.
             The consolidated financial position of Time Warner, their consolidated results of its operations and its cash flows make up the basis for their account management policies and are in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States.
