Critical Thinking styles
Running head: CRITICAL THINKING STYLES AND FORCES OF INFLUENCE PAPER With my previous employer I experienced difficulties that prevented me to utilize my full potential. The position that I held involved important responsibilities. Others considered my job responsibility quite complex in comparison to others. Since, my position required advanced computer skills. No long after I discovered, despite the amount of work I do, I profit less financially than that of the receptionist. I then began to question what the root cause of the problem is. Is my performance not meeting their expectations or could the problem be the organizational structure of management? I begin my day by prioritizing my many job duties, making sure I get the items with deadlines are completed first and are met. This means lengthy reports are completed and sitting on the desk of whom has requested them prior to there deadline.
I didn't want to put myself in a worse situation by going to the Executive Director and taking the chance of loosing my job. Throughout, my workday my job tasks are detoured and riddled with phone calls and added requests that spring up unexpectedly. However, my job performance was not as it was before. Even though I have found other employment and am not in this situation any longer, this problem has existed. I did not discuss the issue with the executive director because I should not be concerned about a fellow co-worker's job performance. This of course results in a very stressful day that leaves me exhausted and wondering if the career I am working in is as rewarding as I was led to believe. She distracts the attention away from the fact that she is late by beginning a conversation with the office manager. Therefore, I took the matter to the Executive Director, once I had found other employment. I began having the attitude that it did not matter if we were 5 or 10 minutes late. My job performance was extraordinary; however I must be there, not one minute late. Her response was that I could talk to the executive director; however, that meant stepping over the office manager. It will continue until there is some organization structure implemented with supervision. Therefore, as long as he does not notice the other individual is late it's not an issue. When he has noticed she is lacking in her performance she makes excuses.
