A commonly known sentiment expressed in this piece is "loneliness". Loneliness is a familiar feeling children and adolescence goes through during periods of growth and change. Changes in your life–a new school, town, job, being unaccepted or accepted, unlovable can make you feel alone. Although Sam has realized that he is a loner, because no one has accepted him for whom he is, Sam points out that "there has to be someone out there who will find" him "enjoyable or interesting." Is that why more and more teenagers are turning toward gangs?
