In this first chapter we will introduce ourselves to geography and spatial organisation. The purpose of doing this is to demonstrate that geography is a spatial science. We shall also look at the major themes or traditions of geography and how they relate to spatial distribution, spatial structure and spatial processes.Upon completion of this lecture, you should be able to;"h Define geography and spatial organisation;"h List and explain the major concepts of spatial organisation;"h Explain geography as a spatial science.Geography is part of your everyday and part of your understanding of the world in which you live. In the subsequent lecture we shall demonstrate spatial order and use location theories to explain the process and evolution of such organisations.
