mending wall

Mending wall is a famous poem that is about human nature and its tendency to build wall and to push away man kind. It is also famous because of it quotes that are used in the poem such as "good fence make good neighbors." Searching the internet I found many articles containing the quote "good fences make good neighbors." However, one particular site that stood out the most was http://www8.utsouthwestern.edu/utsw/cda/dept21055/files/81309.html because it discuses an issue that everyone has felt or is going to

In my opinion, I feel that we have things that we don't want others to see. " He is worried about what he will miss by keeping the wall up, yet he continues to help his neighbor rebuild it. We believe that by keeping people away, they can not hurt us. These are only a few of the many reasons that we all keep emotional walls or barriers up. The article titled "The big D: understanding depression" is an article about various reasons why depression comes about but, the most important part of the writing lies in healthy boundaries = healthy relationships because it talks about emotional fences that one may have and how it affects our relationships with others. Secrets that we don't want to share, misfortunes and wrongdoings that we are too ashamed to speak about. They are there for our protection, or so we think. So forgive and forget, but also learn from what has happened because day by day, year by year the walls in our lives will need to be mended. A strong relationship requires trust and forgiveness. This is true, but when we push them away, what are we missing? Robert Frost contemplates this exact issue in his poem "Mending Wall.
