Staples understands the reason and rationale for their responses; therefore, he attempts to prevent this by taking certain actio

He should be able to act freely and face realities despite the consequences. Staples was careful in making himself appear less threatening. Although Staples recognizes that others view him as threatening solely because of his appearances; he is still willing to commit himself in making others feel comfortable around him. Staples' action and motives are justifiable because he attempts to lessen the tension between him and other strangers. For instance, when entering a building behind someone, he would deliberately walk on by so it would not seem like he was stalking or following that person. Staples should not have to act a certain way just to please others. This is definitely a generous motive. Another instance was whistling melodies from classical music while walking on the streets at night. However, I do not think that this would be the best approach for him because instead of confronting the fears and prejudices of the strangers he encounters, Staples goes out of his way to accommodate them.
