Personal Goals

             The first initial step to becoming a University of Phoenix student was to take action and enroll. Some of the benefits of being a student will be discussed in this paper. There will be successes and failures going on this uncharted journey. Hopefully, through a spiritual higher being and a never, never, never quit attitude I will become a college graduate in the Information Technology field.
             Abe Lincoln was a skillful writer. I hope to develop my own writing style that my peers will appreciate and enjoy. Currently, my biggest problem is effectiveness. I will have to learn to master choppiness. Emphasis of main ideas, smooth and informative transitions, variety in sentence length and structure, appropriate language and concise sentences will be areas I have to master.
             In the workplace happy customers means job security. My biggest obstacle in the casino environment is handling customer disputes. Critical thinking skills will help me improve in this area. Critical thinking involves seven steps.
             Step 1. Identify the problem accurately. What are the facts?
             Step 2. Analyze the problem. Analyze, or break down into understandable pieces, what surrounds the problem.
             Step 3. Brainstorm possible solutions. Brainstorming means freeing your mind to come up with as many possible ideas as you can without immediately deciding that they are good or bad.
             Step 4. Explore each solution. Why might your solution work, or not?
             Step 5. Choose and execute the solution you decide is best. Decide how you will put your solutions to work.
             Step 6. Evaluate the solution that you acted upon, looking at its effects. What are the positive and negative effects of what you did?
             Step 7. Continue to evaluate and find the solution. Problem solving is a process.
