The Life of Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach is often considered the master of Baroque music, but of the 1,000 or so works he created, only an approximate one dozen were published. Today, all of his work has been published. Even individuals who are unfamiliar with Bach can most likely hum of one of his Brandenburg Concertos. Bach was born on March 21, 1685, in Eisenach (Germany). He was the son of Johann Ambrosius Bach, a German organist and composer who taught him how to read and play music. In 1703 he became a violinist for the court orchestra of Duke of Weimar in the court of Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Cöthen. In 1723, Bach became Cantor of St. Thomas's in Leipzig, remaining there til his death in July 28, 1750 in Leipzig (Germany). He also married Maria Barbara Bach and they had seven children, including Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, but after Maria died in 1720, he married Anna Magdalena Wilcke, and they had 13 children.
During his lifetime, Bach wrote about 1000 pieces (not all of them discovered or noted for their brilliance). His works "The Brandenburg Concerto's" or "Mass in B Minor", are recognised worldwide.
Many of Bach's pieces were very religious, or inspired by religion. Mass in B Minor was written as an oratorio. The piece has 33 sections, which is understandably why it took Bach 15 years to complete it. The entire mass was written out around 1748, when Bach added a Sanctus movement, which he had composed earlier as a separate work in 1724. Bach also added the closing movements containing the Osanna onwards, all of which were redoes, of his earlier works, mostly movements from his church cantatas. In fact, out of the 2300 bars of the mass, 638 bars were borrowed from his earlier works. The Mass is divided into 4 sections:
