             Throughout time people have been questioning the values of society and many wonder if the beliefs and customs of their culture are actually what is in the interest of themselves. Times of suffering can create strong and powerful people to change; the means of achieving such is significant to ones morals or ethics. Marge Piercy, an American literary figure shows means of achieving ones morals or ethics throughout her poetry and novels. She does this by raising many important issues in her poems and novels, most often associated with her being a "committed feminist", dealing with the situations in American homes, and with the stereotype that women portray in today's society (Shuman, Baird R). She writes about her feministic approach on the world in her poetry and novels.
             Piercy says she is a feminist because she "was born a woman. I can't imagine not wanting things to be better, safer, more fun and less dangerous for myself and other women" (Musleah, Rahel). Often times, she worries about several issues all at once. For example, she worries about the economic justice of the world, domestic violence, and the concern with the image that shows that every woman is a failure because she gets old, a disheartening concept.
             A woman as the nurturing role is an apron women have worn throughout history. Nowhere is a woman's role more defined than in the relationship between women and food. Women are the cooks, the maids, the nanny's, and the unappreciated providers of daily nourishment for the men, children, and other members of the extended family. Marge Piercy examines the stereotype of women and food in American society from a woman's point of view. Obviously, she does this because she is a very feministic woman.
