triage

             Some of the major characters in the novel Triage are Mark, Elena, Joaquin and Talzani. These four characters play a major role in the book as everything relates and surrounds them. We are shown in the novel each of the characters personal lives, their events and their chances.
             Mark is a war photographer who travels around the world to war and takes photos of soldiers, civilians and the died. While Mark was in the Kurdistan war, him and his friend Colin got injured in a bombing. He then experienced the last words of Colin, before he dies. As make tried to help Colin but failed, he then becomes physically and mentally injured as he blames himself for Colin's death.
             Make is then taken to Harir cave hospital were he meets doctor Talzani. Mark had to prove to Talzani that he was fit enough to be kept alive and was given a yellow tag, and was taken to the recovery ward.
             As Mark recovered from Harir cave hospital, he then returns to Elena (his girlfriend) in New York. Mark cannot face what happened and continues his self-delusory behaviors. He lies to Elena about his lacerations and injuries and the where about of his close friend Colin.
             Mark can't seem to connect with his home environment, physically or psychologically. He walks and counts the steps across the living room to convince him self that he is able to walk and talk normally.
             Mark is like "living with the dead" as he can't seem to move on.
             In the beginning of the novel, Mark shows a strong friendship and courage as he tires to help Colin as a bomb hit them both. He then experienced the values of life and deaths at the Harir cave hospital. Mark meets Talzani and reveals numbness as Talzani tells him "some peoples lives, some died, that's is all". Talzani says this to help Mark from blaming himself for Colin's death. Mark shows numbness throughout the novel, he cannot create his own emotions or feelin
