The Atkins Diet

The Atkins Diet was first introduced in 1992 by Dr. Robert C. Atkins. This is a high fatlow carb nutritional approach that can positively impact the lives of people facing the risk factors associated with diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. The diet consists of different phases that individuals may challenge after they see where they want to be in life and their weight loss goals.
Induction is the first phase. It kick starts your body into lipolysis, switching your metabolism to one that primarily burns fat for energy. The main focus of this diet is eating tons of fattening foods and almost no carbs. That is why the induction phase is so successful. Week one of the induction phase, the individual is expected not to consume any more than twenty carbs per day. Week two, no more than twenty five carbs per day until the weight loss stalls then the individual has to go back to the previous level if the goal is to lose twenty pounds or more. The second phase is ongoing weight loss. The second phase introduces different eating habits such as adding a few more carbs per day for the individuals whose goals are set to lose more than twenty pounds. The third phase is the lifetime maintenance phase which creates ways that individuals can change their whole lifestyles of eating and also reach their goal weight while consuming between ninety to one hundred carbs per day.
Atkins is not a license to gorge. If one is hungry, eat the amount to feel satisfaction but do not eat just because one can. I feel that the Atkins diet is the best diet out on the market today. Many individuals may agree or disagree with the terms of this diet, but the majority of Americans feel that there is no better road to choose than Atkins. It has it advantages and some minor disadvantages , like any other diet, but I strongly recommend this diet to anyone.
