Synopsis of Jewish History
Most educated people in the world today believe that the holocaust was a pivotal moment in Jewish history and led to the establishment of the state of Israel. But this theory is simplistic. It does not take into account the many factors in history that led to the establishment of the state of Israel. Also in a historical context, in the two events took place to close together for one to have such an impact on the other. The holocaust in Europe took place between 1938 and 1944, and the establishment of Israel took place in 1948 a mere four years later. The full extent Of Germany's crimes during world war two we're not fully understood for many years. It is hard to understand the historical context for these events. To understand one must look at the events as if they're on a timeline. Most people look at all these events as occurring on one timeline. That is a false premise; I propose these events happened on overlapping timelines. The first starting with the expulsion of the Jews from Israel by The Romans and ending with the holocaust in Europe. The second starting with the trial of Dreyfus in Paris in 1907 and then continuing through the establishment of the state and ending in 1967. The first time line could b
with the expulsion of the Jews by the Roman Empire. The Jews were using better irrigation techniques that resulted in a larger food yields than that of its Arab neighbors. The holocaust while tragic was the death of a timeline not the birth. It wasn't until 1936 that there were any organized Arab nationalist hopes for Palestine. As early as 1907 Herzel had been in contact with many Arab leaders. Harry Truman though was not necessarily a proponent of the Jewish state; papers show he felt the recognition of Israel was more of a political move than a moral one. In 1896 Herzel published "The Jewish State" calling for the establishment of a Jewish state. These Jews moved north into Europe and established Jewish communities throughout Asia and Europe. It is represented best by the Zionist movement. During World War Two the Mufti inspired anti-Jewish violence throughout the mandate. Although later cleared the events made clear to Herzel the need for a Jewish state. It was the European Jews who left Europe before 1934 that had the largest impact on the establishment of the state. The main effect of World War Two on Israel was the huge number of displaced persons that resulted from the war. By the onset of World War Two, immigration out of Europe had virtually ceased.
