Ultra Music Concert

Over Spring Break, I was lucky enough to attend a concert in Miami called Ultra Music Festival. This was not your ordinary, run of the mill, sit-stand-clap-leave kind of concert. This concert went from 11 o’ clock in the morning Saturday March 6, 2004 straight through 1 o’ clock Sunday morning. 14 hours of none stop music and people. The ticket price was $55 and the concert was held at Bayfront Park in Miami, FL. There were 12 stages, well over 50, 000 people, dozens of massive tents scattered around the field, each with a different music playing inside and 200+ artists, DJs and producers performing. Majority of the music played was dance/club music, but there were so many artists I can not be to sure about that.

When I first arrived to Ultra I did not know what to really expect. My roommate had told me about this concert and how he had a blast at last years’ concert, so I decided to go with him. I had been to an all day field concert before so I had a general idea of what t

. . .

There were just so many amazing artists performing that I could go on for days about.

The Chemical Brothers’ took the stage at about 9 o’clock. What I do remember is about sundown, I looked up the path to the main stage when Holland's Junkie XL was walking on stage.

I do not really remember who preformed what when we first got there. They performed two extensive sets of their own music. The act that was the whole reason behind us going to Ultra, the Chemical Brothers, was taking the stage. They took the stage, blowing everyone away. Although there were a ridiculous number of people in attendance, the overall feel was just to have as music fun as humanly possible. The minute we stepped onto the field it was like a whole different world. I would highly recommend this concert to everyone and I personally cannot wait until next year’s festival. I was in such a daze, and so over loaded with all going around me. I was taken aback by everything going on around me. The ‘boredom’ I expected to come during the act changes never came.
