Organizational Culture

An understanding of organizational culture helps to provide a sense of the hidden and complex aspects of organizationa life. Defined as patterns of shared values and beliefs that over time produce behavioral habits adapted in solving problems. In this article review, I will summarize the article related to the topics our class discussed and the assigned readings we completed in Workshop 1. I will also relate the article to my organization and make any recommendations for my organization based on the article. The article I chose to write about, Organizational Culture: Understanding and Assessment, talks about by understanding and evaluating your organization's culture, it can mean the difference between success and failure in today's fast, changing business environment. It also focuses on the role of the leader in creating and maintaining the organization's culture by their behavior being displayed by them and how the management team profoundly shapes the culture and practices of the organization. The article mentions how certain characteristics, values, norms, and beliefs can be totally different with subcultures. Unless your organization is willing to align culture with its strategic

This kind of organization is said to posssess a high level of cultural integration and the strength of the subcultures that coexist. My article includes the strong dominant culture in companies that is pervasive throughout the organization and across business units or even regions. Such as architecture and decore, the clothing people wear, organizational processes, structures, and the rituals and symbols with organizations. My article describes the importance of what the company's management pays attention to and rewards are often the strongest indicator of the organization's culture. As well as status symbols, such as cars, window offices, titles, and the value statements and priorities. Organizational Culture: Understanding and Assessment, relates to the material we read in workshop one. Where employees once worked alone, they are now frequently working in teams. Other behaviors and beliefs are the celebrations, commonly used language and jargon, logos, brochures, company and slogans. Getting a profile of the current culture can enable organizations to thoughtfully bring the elements of the culture into alignment and move forward torwards an ideal. They stick to the highest levels of integrity and ethical standards of conduct, and deal with issues directly, openly, and decisively. Such companies are capable of responding with quickness to the environmental drivers that necessitate change in strategy and practices. One of our class discussions was about the challenges multinational organizations may face going global. My article relates some of the most visual expressions of culture as atrifacts as well. Section 1 also discribes the components of organizational culture with cultural artifacts, patterns of behaviors, and values and beliefs. It mentions how the managers, especially the top managers, creates and supports an organization's culture through the actions they take and the comments they make.
