HOW DOES ETHNIC DIVERSITY ENRICH OUR SOCIETY?
            
            
             Immigration and ethnic diversity are central characteristics of the American experience. The United States has accepted more immigrants, from more places around the world, than any other nation. During this century, the ethnic mixture of the United States has become increasingly varied, a trend that continues today with waves of new immigration from Asia and Latin America.
             As an Arab-American in the United States I have seen and learned of a lot of ethnicities that reside here and have come to find that America's foundation is built on ethnic diversity. Ethnic diversity helps to bridge the gap between different people and rid the United States of ignorance. Ethnic diversity enriches the society through many ways, mainly through education. When people get to interact with other ethnicities it changes their perspectives. I didn't know much about things that were going on in the world until I met people from other ethnicities and it has helped to enrich my life and make me a better person. Ethnic diversity can enrich our lives through different languages. As many people know the United States language consists of many other languages. Without different ethnicities the language would not be as great as it is now.
             I used to volunteer in an Arab community program called Arab American Action Network(AAAN) which helped to teach the community about Arabs and how not all of us hate America and want to drive planes into buildings. Through this program many people learned about our heritage and religion and became aware of our growing numbers in the United States. It helped to eliminate many stereotypes of Arabs and many people left having learned something new and having a new attitude towards Arabs.
             Ethnic diversity also helps us to learn customs of other cultures and keeps us from insulting a type of people or saying something ignorant. When I volunteered in the AAAN ...
