1. Everyone needs to do laundry and when they do not have washers and dryers available to them, they have to go somewhere to do it. The potential customers of a laundromat vary greatly. They can be young or old, well off or needy, single or with families. The ages of those that frequent laundromats can range anywhere from 18 to 60 or older. I believe that age is the least determining factor of pinpointing potential customers because the individuals’ personal situation is much more telling. The questions, how much money do they make, where do they live, and where do they work, are more revealing.

Laundromats generally have two types of services that bring in two types of customers. They usually have the do it yourself washers and dryers, and then they have the drop-off and dry cleaning services. I would say that customers that use the first service are in the below-average to average income bracket. These people are not likely to spend their money on a washer or dryer and would prefer to go to the laundromat with their quarters. Customers of the drop-off and dry-cleaning services would be from the average to above-average income bracket. These customers often have jobs that require them to wear the type of clothes tha

I think it is important that they make sure to stick to their core service, laundry, and not get carried away with the extras. The main consideration is to make the environment pleasant and clean. Mailings, especially to colleges, would serve them well. A possible risk a customer or Oasis may perceive is the amount it costs. Making a normally bad experience a good one, like Oasis has done, will draw people. A place like Oasis seems to want to cater more to the young college students and young professionals. For laundromats with the drop off and pick up feature, customers are probably single men with comfortable income. They would be best setting up shop in main cities and near college campuses. With all the college students downtown, their potential customer base is pretty good. Social status usually ties into income, in the U. Management can reduce these perceived risks by addressing them publicly in ads and maintaining a policy of having to do laundry to use the extra services. They have enough money to buy their own washer and dryer, but would rather not spend their money that way.

I think Oasis could offer internet access and a place for people to set up with their laptops to research or chat online.
