Cloning

Human cloning has always caught the public imagination even though scientists are afraid of the public's reaction. For years, scientists have been telling us that human cloning was impossible and would never be possible. Yesterday's science fiction is today's reality. Human cloning means designer people with known pedigree. You can make your child look however you want. Many people are in support of cloning but there are always those who take another viewpoint.
Cloning is the process of making a genetically identical organism through nonsexual means. In human cloning, the aim is for two cells to fuse together to become one. The egg gains a full set of genes from the adult and thinks it has been fertilized. It begins to divide to become and identical twin (clone) of the adult. However, the cloned baby could have genes that are as old as the older cloned twin.
The first human clone baby was Eve born on December 26, 2002 by Clonaid. She was born using a similar technique used to clone Dolly the sheep, a skin cell and a human egg from the "mother" who is infertile. Clonaid said they would do independent gene testing to prove the claim about Eve. It was soon withdrawn after a lawsuit was begun in the United States to make Eve a ward of the court. This was done on the basis that the "mother" was the baby girl's twin sister and the "mother" had no legal parental rights even though she had just given birth to her own twin. Clonaid say that the "parents" are afraid their cloned babies will be taken away from them.
Clonaid is registered in the Bahamas and was founded by the Raelian movement who claim more than 50,000 members in 85 countries. Raelians believe that humans are all cloned from the alien scientists who visited earth. The movement was started by Claude Vorilhorn,
