Human resource management is part of the human resource approach, which is evidently geared to allow organizations to benefit in two significant ways: increasing in the organization’s effectiveness and satisfying all of the employee’s needs. Organizational goals and employee needs are considered mutual and compatible in this approach, instead of simply addressing them as separate things. In other words, one need cannot be gained at the expense of the other. The human resource manager in charge of the corporate office of a large brewing company, and also the manager that I interviewed, is Michelle Hagen. Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch founded their first restaurant in Palo Alto in 1988. Therefore, Human Resources is the largest single component committed to
acquiring the employee‘s complete satisfaction. Hagen, has three human resource assistant. Hagen feels that they are very successful in this aspect because of the constant interaction of the CEO with his employees. Hagen has been with the company for 14 years off and on.
Performance Appraisals
At Gordon Biersch, annual performance appraisals are given by the managers. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided
to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion. They strive to be compassionate towards their employee’s wants and needs by holding annual evaluations of the management itself.
