At age 40 Marc Newson has already accomplished many things including; chairs, household objects, a bicycle and a concept car to restaurants, a recording studio and interiors of private and commercial jets, for clients in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.Newson was born in Sydney, Australia; he spent his childhood years travelling in Europe and Asia. Before graduating in 1984 at Sydney College of the Arts he studied jewellery and sculpture. eed Lounge, at the Roslyn Oxley Gallery in Sydney. Newson is also designing the uniforms for the Australian Olympic Team that is going to be worn in the 2004 Athens Olympics Games. Some of his current projects are the Lever House restaurant in New York, aircraft interiors and seats for Qantas, new luggage, cookware and bathroom ranges for companies like Ideal Standard and Tefal, a mobile telephone for Japan's KDDI. He created Bucky, a sculpture for the Fondation Cartier in Paris in 1995, and a major display of his work was held at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney from August 2001 to February 2002. Newson has won many awards and exhibited his work widely around the world. Newson moved to Tokyo (1987 to 1991) after being offered by, Teruo Kurosaki. Newson has designed aircraft, such as the Falcon 900B and bicycles. His work was widely distributed in Europe and Asia. In 1999 Booth-Clibborn Editions published a book in 1999, on Marc Newson's work, and also another, by Universe Publishing, was launched in 2003. Newson is also now an Adjunct Professor in Design at Sydney College of the Arts. He has since designed mass manufactured glassware for Iittala, kitchen and bathroom accessories for Alessi, furniture and household objects for Magis and B&B Italia. Moving to London in 1997, Newson set up Marc Newson Ltd, for attempting larger projects. In 1991 Newson set up a studio in Paris.
