Another external influence involves social influences. Legal influences are also an major external pressure. They also need to be more efficient so that the benefits are greater than the costs. These changes are in result of the government implementing legislation to deregulate the economy in order to make Australian organisations more competitive and efficient. A slow down in population growth will have a major implication for Australian organisations. The second role is to organise, that is, stay up to date with technology, get involved in Research and Development, multi skill employees, downsize, benchmark against competitors, attract more shareholders and acquire new business through merger or takeover. Advances in technology have had a major impact on organizational structure. The third internal pressure would be the organizational alliances which are where organisations form an alliance to give them a competitive advantage and in result is the change in organizational operating procedures.
