Bob Dylan
When the 1960's come to one's mind, various thoughts arise. Most think of the wide spread use of drugs. Others may think of the hippies and their promiscuous ways. When I think about the 1960's, there is one thing that comes across my mind. Written huge in bold writing, the word music. As years pass fads come in and out of style. Although trends change, there is one thing and one thing alone that will never go out of fashion and that is the music of the sixties. I believe that music is what makes the world go round, the core that brings all people together. It takes the power of musical Gods to leave such an important impact on our society. One of these musical Gods entered our world May 24, 1941. His name was Robert Allen Zimmerman, known today as the great Bob Dylan. Robert Zimmerman grew up in a very small town of Hibbling, Minnesota. At the age ten, he began writing poetry and teaching himself to play Rudimentary piano and guitar. Strongly Influenced by Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, Zimmerman started forming his own rock bands in his early teens, such as The Golden Chords and His Rock Boppers. In the fall of 1959, Zimmerman left Hibbling and began attending the University of Minne
It was almost funny to me at first because a lot of his amazing lyrics were almost hard to understand. That didn't matter much to me, the music itself was just so melodic and beautiful. The music that was played was such a wide variety of genres. The show was called to start at 8:00 P. The first song Dylan played was Drifter's Escape, a song that I was not familiar with. Dylan's self-titled album was released in March of 1962. A man walks on stage along with his band. Although inside, I definitely felt the effect of being outside on a beautiful summer night. The crowd was a huge surprise to me as well. I found it to be absolutely beautiful. To my surprise, the concert was nothing of what I expected, but reached higher than my expectations. To be honest, half of the songs he played through out the night I had never heard before. Many of his songs were political protest songs.
