Concrete Detail

When I was a child some of my greatest memories happened outside. My mother was afraid of me being close to the road when I played so my only option was the back yard. This place of enchantment became a whole new world of learning and fun for me. I rode my first bike in my backyard and I also learned to play soccer in the backyard . Summer barbeques with mouth moistening hotdogs and grilled hamburgers would keep the grilled taste in your mouth for hours. The beauty and wonder of this place was unknown until my backyard was no longer part of my everyday life. The doors open to reveal a sun- lightened, steaming hot stone pathway. This is a pathway leading through an own personal park. On the right just outside the doors sits a plain grey weathered bench. Usually unnoticeable this bench is thrown in to view by flaming red flower pots on both sides of it. The background of the orange- red brick house completes the scene ke

Sitting in the middle of the yard is a large tree. On the way back towards the entrance to the yard in the left front corner of the yard there is a stone barbeque pit. These birds thank the tree for its kindness by chirping a lovely song morning and afternoon. Around this large tree sits a flower bed encircling the entire tree. As the pathway winds back around to the front of the yard a small table sits to the left of the tree. The explosion of yellow, purple, and white flowers cause the shadows of surrounding objects to vanish. Entering the house the sound of barking dogs gives way to a blaring television. As the wind blows the love songs of the birds, the smell of sweet lavender and summer grass drift about. These bush's have thorns with sword sharp edges, as if on guard for this young tree. As a buzzing sound becomes more apparent a single small yellow flower has sprouted providing nourishment for a busy buzzing bee. This once loved piece of equipment now shows wear and tear on its outside like an old man. eping the bench from disappearing into the dark shadows. The dark black burnt coals provide a dark side for this peaceful yard. Following down the pathway, the left corner of the yard is graced by the presence of a swing set.
