medea: human or god?

Throughout the whole play of Medea, Medea does atrocious and evil things. She kills her brother, and also kills her sons, because of love then hatred toward her husband. During the play Medea seems to be half human, half god. She seems as though she is making a transition into becoming a god. These feelings of hate she is having toward her husband, and basic human emotions. These emotions are provoking her to carry out these acts eventually bringing her to a godly status. In ancient Greek times, the Gods were known to be evil, even though they were also good. If a person did something wrong to anger or disappoint the gods, they had the ability to do horrible things to show how they felt. The gods could cause natural disasters, such as, floods, hurricanes; they could also take lives of people who disrespected them. Medea was similar in the way of the gods, Jason wronged her so she was going to ruin his life. Medea, "lies without food and gives herself up to suffering, wastes away every moment of the day in tears". (Pg. 2) After moping around her house, not eating, not sleeping, and crying over Jason. Medea decides to find any and every way that she can to hurt Jason for what he has done

By being upset with Jason she shows sadness and love. She, as a supposed human has cast a spell on clothing to make it become fire, to kill the princess. 40) It is obvious that part of Medea does not want to kill her boys. 44) Medea then goes away to Hera's temple to bury her children. many things the gods achieve beyond our judgment. what we thought is not confirmed and what we thought not god contrives". She sends her "a finely woven dress and a golden diadem, if she takes them and wears them upon her skin, she and all who touch the girl will die in agony". The human emotions in her are trying to save her sons from exile, but the godly part in her is killing or harming anything and everyone that got in her way, both the princess and Creon. Her human emotions are again coming out. 47) The chorus thought that Medea would be murdered for all the sins she has committed, either by the king's men or by the gods. She has succeeded in ruining the lives of people who have disrespected her, as did the gods.
