In the time of Old Babylonia the ancient people were ruled by the king's law. In early Mesopotamia this law was called the Code of Hammurabi. When we study the code we can take a look at "what sort of society we see reflected" in it. The answer is not that simple. There are many different aspects in the society we see as a result of Hammurabi's code. One of the first aspects of society we can look at is that the King is trying to take an interest into protecting the rights of his people. We see that Hammarubi was concerned with justice and equality. We see that the king wrote these laws with the people's rights in mind, to establish a society that was fair and just. There are many different aspects in the society we see as a result of Hammurabi's code. There also seems to be distinctive job segregation. When someone commits a crime is more than likely capital punishment, rather than a slap on the wrist. We can see that there were many types of classes also present, from peasants to the upper class. When we also take a step back and look at the code we see a society that is harsh in the enforcement of the law. Even though these laws were harsh and sometimes warranted death. In this early society we can also see a type of advanced way of living. Laws made so that the events will not occur. It seems that the punishments are set up in an "eye for an eye" type of society. But in the overall picture we see an advanced society, full of a muti-variety of job distinctions and titles, which along with the LAW help keep a balance in the Mesopotamian homeostasis. he sun over the black-headed people, to enlighten the land and to further the welfare of the people. " This tells us that there is a society present at this point in time where the king wants to take care of, and better his subjects. With these distinctive job titles within the society we can see that they are far more advanced than we had thought. Law number 22 says that if you are caught stealing, you are to be put to death.
