1984 fact or fiction
Nineteen Eighty-Four, Reality or Fiction?Utopia, hoped for by many and achieved by a few. Many people and nations dream of a utopian government. In the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four George Orwell makes a great criticism of a perfect society. This book has been said to be one of the best anti-utopian novels ever written. The novel was written by Orwell not only as a criticism of what he saw happening with the coming if English socialism, but as a warning of the consequences of a similar government. The prophecies in Nineteen Eighty-Four seem farfetched but are inconceivably close to the truth. As in the novel modern life is controlled by the government, the media, and the society. In many countries the things people are allowed to express and think about are limited. This is not restricted to a certain group of countries but it includes countries from all continents. Connections could be made from the book to things happening today. Even the one of the most powerful countries in the world is severely affected by this. The United States of America is one of the most life controlling countries on this planet. As in the novel there is the "thought police" who are in charg
This is done to make the administration look as if they are hardworking. The government has satellites that can pickup movement and sound from anywhere on the planet. It is one of the main parts of people's lives. It is too bad that no lesson has been learned from the novel. The major source of news is television and it is from the news that we form opinions therefore it can be said that television controls people's thoughts and opinions. It is unfortunate that despite the moral of this great novel human life is what it is today. Nineteen Eighty-Four is a perfect example of an anti-utopian novel. This also takes people's minds off many things that would threaten that government's reelection. This is because people are afraid that other people including their friends and neighbours would complain and get them in trouble. In Nineteen Eighty-Four people's opinion of the government and things around them is limited. Achieving utopia may seem great but it is nothing but a nightmare. In the novel people are watched by "telescreens", devices that can "receive and transmit" simultaneously.
