Regeneration of King lear
The Regeneration of King Lear in King Lear King Lear is a man that wants the whole world to notice him and to love him, yet he cares for none of those around him. The audience sees as a man that wants the undue approval of everyone around him and without this approval he is merely a man with any privaledge. He uses the materialistic things he possesses as a device so he can control everyone. Lear wants his daughters to show their undying love to him, but two only "love" him for what they can get from him. The third, Cordelia, loves him for who he is to her, her father, and nothing else. Angrily he gives her to the King of France as her bride, and he tells he never wants to see her again - all because of her honesty. In Shakespeare's tragedy, King Lear, the audience witnesses King Lear's sin, suffering, education, regeneration, and, upon conclusion, his regeneration. King Lear's sin is identified as his wanting to be everything to his three daughters - no matter what they really want and think. King Lear begins the play by asking his three daughters, "Which of you shall we say doth love us most, / That we our largest bounty may extend." He knows that he is corrupt and bad, and that his other two daughters are exactly like him. Lear decides that he would live with Goneril first, but she does not like the idea that he has so many people in his party. In conclusion, King Lear learns from the mistakes he makes as a man and as a father. Lear has already told Goneril: "Thou art a boil, / A plague-sore or embossed carbuncle / In my corrupted blood. " He thinks he is the only one that could save Cordelia, but he is too late. He refuses, and tells her: "I'll not trouble thee. When Cordelia answers, she states, "Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave / My heart into my mouth. And we'll never wear out,/ In all walled prison, packs and sects of great ones/ That ebb and flow by th' moon. However, Lear's life gets no better, because he begins suffering right before Cordelia leaves for France. Let her be thine, for we / Have no such daughter, nor shall we ever see / That face of hers again. He calls out: "A plague upon you, murderers, traitors all! / I might have saved her. Finally, Lear becomes a regenerated man as he sits as a prisoner with Cordelia. He gives them the land on the basis that he will spend time at each of their homes. " Lear thought he was everything to his daughters, but he now realizes their true intentions.
