Exercise Physiology

             Acute Responses to Resistance Training
             • Increase of blood lactate acid
             Chronic Responses to Resistance Training
             • Enhanced motor neuron capabilities
The particular hypertrophy routine I am using utilizes both the lactate and the phosphate systems in the ratio of 60:40 percent respectively. However, further into the sets the adenosine triphospahte stores deplete, as there is insufficient rest between sets for them regenerate. There is a noticeable sensation when the lactate system begins to dominate (Set 3) which is partially responsible for the failure of a muscle but not entirely.
Despite claims that lactic acid is directly responsible for delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) this is inaccurate as blood lactic acid is not detrimental to muscular tissue and is removed from the system within 20 minutes to 2 hours post exercise. The body is rid more efficiently of lactate acid if a cool down is incorporated into any form of exercise. DOMS is best prevented if a warm up is incorporated into a routine before the conditioning phase. In regard to resistance training the warm up is broken into to stages. A general warm up that prepares the body for a bout of exercise and a specific warm up which is completed immediately before the conditioning phase of a particular muscle.
There are varieties of methods that can be used to test the different aspects of anaerobic fitness. One of these includes the measurement of skin-folds to obtain an accurate gauge of one's body composition. This involves using a skin-fold caliper to measure the amount of body fat present on a particular part of the body. These measurements are taken three times and averaged to eliminate random errors. The sum of all skin folds is calculated then the sum is converted into percentage body fat per mass.
A test for muscular endurance is the push up test. It involves doing push ups to complete muscular failure. For is important as it is easy t...
