They also reported that there are over 175 million people living in the United States, which means one third of all Americans are living without insurance. The government should not allow this many citizens to suffer because they feel most people should provide their own insurance. If the government were to provide the country with universal healthcare, each citizen would be treated with equal consideration. Unfortunately, the rich would experience less immediate attention from this method, but the economically deprived citizens would benefit and become healthier. Adopting universal healthcare, like every other industrialized nation, is the best possible system for our country because it would treat each person with the same consideration, instead of providing services only to the people who can financially afford it.
             When the subject of universal healthcare is addressed, many views arise from different secular groups. Groups that are concerned with this issue range from politicians to medical institutions. Maine legislators are pushing for a healthcare reform package that will enable all residents the privilege of government healthcare. Maine Governor John Baldacci pledges that "Maine will be the first state in the nation to provide its citizens with universal healthcare coverage" (qtd. in Haskell A1). Although this democratic view is appealing to most Maine residents, many bills must be passed before this vision is made possible. Democrats and Republicans have long debated the issue of healthcare because each side has strong opposing views. Democratic views, like the one mentioned above, are ones that favor the majority.
