             Up until the 1850's most children in America were educated at home, so home schooling is not necessarily new. However the past twenty-five years have seen a revival in home schooling, and now between two and three million children in the United States are learning at home. Home schooling has become the new way to increase a child's learning ability as well as giving him or her more options of learning then a traditional school. With statistics like these it is easy to see why home schooling has its advantages.
             One of the major advantages to home schooling a child is that a person can specifically teach to his or her own learning style. Bradway and Hill state they like to use the simple terms "lookers," "listeners," and "movers" to describe the way children in their practice learn best (6). Lookers are visual learners who rely on the sense of sight when taking in information. Listeners are auditory learners with a preference for sounds and words over information taken in by sight or touch. Movers prefer to learn by physical touch, or also called hands-on learning. In traditional classroom setting these types of learning styles are not taken into consideration. This does not help a child to reach his or her full academic potential.
             The second advantage to home schooling goes along with the first. There is a vast amount of curriculum that is tailored to each individual learning style. In this variety of options there are also many styles to choose from. Johnson describes these different approaches as: traditional, worktext, living book, unit study, high-tech, classical, and un-schooling (17).
             The traditional approach is for the student who may have performed well in a public or private school. The worktext approach is a basic read the text, fill-in-the-blank style.
