Nike's board of directors consists of both management directors and independent directors. This combination benefits Nike because there is a presence of those who are directly involved with the company and there are those who are involved indirectly and can assist in thinking "outside the box" on issues. The only problem with this is that the average age of Nike's board is 62. The oldest is 79, while the youngest is 49. This can be a weakness due to the lack of younger members Nike may not be able to reach a young market and achieve their goals.
             Nike has a vast amount of products which include shoes, accessories, sports equipment and clothing for men, women and children. Therefore, there is a large target market for them to maintain their high status in. There is high consumer awareness, Nike's trademark Swoosh is considered to be one of the most recognizable brands in the world. The "swoosh" has appeared on many celebrity endorsers such as Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. These positive role models helped endorse the brand.
             Since Nike's products are to be considered of higher quality they tend to have a higher price compared to competitors. While the prices are realistic given the nature of the products, some consumers do not agree. This weakness lead Nike to evaluate the mid- to lower price sneaker market. They created new sneakers for lower prices to snatch back some consumers they have lost due to high prices.
             A strength that Nike has is that they continually conduct marketing research to see if and how they can improve their products. They find out what people want, their buying habits and keep up with the latest trends.
