Stand and Deliver Imagine working so hard to make it through school when noone believes in you and when you finally make it you get shot downand belittled by your superiors. They studied at his home, he visited their homes, and even sat withtheir parents and begged to keep the students in school. The kidswere willing to work hard and that is what kept Mr. Escalante received an award in his honor forhelping the students so much. He went straight back to teaching to help the students passthe exam and prove everyone wrong. They received a formal apology from the schooland district and Mr. Escalante continued to teach at Garfield formany years and everyone loved him. He worked so hard he had a heart attack. They had to re take the test to prove to the district the testscores are accurate. Garfield high school was given newcomputers and books to help the students with school and everyyear after that more and more students passed the advancedplacement exam. The doctors toldhim not to go back to teaching, to take some time off but he didn'tlisten. s and helped them slowly over the school years toprepare them for the advanced placement test. The students studiedand worked extra hard to pass the advanced placement test andwhen they all passed the district said the all copied and failed everystudent.
