I feel school uniforms should not be abolished as students would wear inappropriate slogans and clothing. Some students may become ashamed of the clothing they can afford, and some may even feel pressured to steal clothing. A school uniform is a way to eliminate this common problem amongst students. There won't be competition over clothes. Also with uniforms there will be less fights and teasing over what you look like or the way you are dressed. School uniforms are an effective way to display school pride and combat school violence.
             By having a school uniform it is time effective as you don't have to spend hours in the morning in front of the mirror trying to decide what to wear. This is most certainly the case for students who have to catch public transport and arrive at school at time. It will always be the same shirt, the same trousers/skirt, the same jumper/windcheater etc. They will know the night before which clothing they will have to wear tomorrow.
             Another problem that might surface due to the implementation of school uniforms is the suppression of the individual's creativity and expression. Many students express who they are through the way they dress. They of course can have their day when schools hold a "casual day" or special "theme days", which are generally used to raise money to support various charitable causes. Most students look forward to wearing their style of clothing on these days and showing off their uniqueness.
             An issue that needs to be addressed is the unnecessary burden that will be placed upon those families of limited resources. Many low-income families do not have the money available to buy trendy and fashionable clothing for their children. Students are ridiculed because they can't afford "in" clothing. It's hard enough being a teenager and coping with pressure on how you look, without having to worry about what to wear to school.
