I never consider myself a writ

             I think I never considered myself a writer. To me, writing is not much to be enjoyed, but is a necessity. When I came to the U.S. as a new immigrant 12 years ago, I did not know any English. In 2 weeks after I arrived, I started to attend classes in high school. The moment I stepped into the classes, I realized how important the English writing is! Even in the classes such as Biology or Chemistry, good writing skills were still needed to come up good science reports.
             Although I knew writing is extremely important for my studies in school, I still tried to avoid it most of the time. After I got any writing assignments, I always wrote many outlines, lists of idea, themes, everything I could, but except the actual essay or report. Sometimes, I could even sit in front of my desk for hours before I actually started to write. The main reason I tried to avoid writing is because I knew there were going to have many errors in my paper such as grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. Until toady, I am a little bit afraid to make these mistakes when I am writing my paper.
             About 5 years ago, I started working as a computer software testing engineer. Even though my job is only a technical position, writing skills are still very crucial at work. Addition to coming up good reports for my bosses, writing e-mails on daily basis is becoming a work task. In today's high-tech world, writing effective e-mails is probably considered a most important tool when people are communicating with your customers, bosses and co-workers. For instance, I am used to work for AMD, Advanced Micro Devices in Sunnyvale, as computer testing engineer. AMD is a global supplier of integrated circuits for the computing, communications, and consumer electronics markets. Since the economic slowdown, most of AMD employees have not had a significant pay raise in over two years because the company has not made any money since year of 2000.
