This kind of oppression was experienced by Joan. She even successfully was chosen as a Pope. Women was regarded as 'imperfect men' in that era since their existence was oppressed by false rules. However, this act will njot enable her to gain what see wants. Only men who are allowed to study, even women are not allowed to go to the libraries. The thought about 'women are weaker than men' affected the society treatment against women. She then just give in all her desire and dream just for the sake of the family. They choose to struggle from the oppression by deceiving the system; and that's the only thing they can do. Both Jig and Jess choose to be a peacemaker in their problems, which means that they choose to submits to whatever it is to clear everything up.
