             and unqualified approaches to labor and delivery. Midwives, however, think otherwise. They
             believe that a natural approach should be taken during childbirth in women experiencing a normal
             pregnancy and that birth should not be treated as an experience that requires hospitalization.
             Statistically, the practice of midwifery has been proven to be a safer method for women
             experiencing normal, low risk pregnancies (Gaylord). Therefore, Certified Nurse Midwives
             working in collaboration with physicians should be caring for the majority of pregnant women
             who are considered "low risk". Doctors and insurance companies both argue that births in maternity centers are
             unfit and insufficient for dealing with emergencies, mostly due to their distance from hospitals
             and no medically trained professionals present. Physicians for that reason believe that women
             should only give birth in hospitals. They consider out-hospital births that are offered by midwives
             fraught with risk factors for women and their babies. Many problems can occur and places such
             as birthing centers lack necessary equipment and personnel to deal with emergency situations
             Out hospital births such as maternity centers, are a safe and adequate place for low risk
             normal pregnancy women to give birth. What makes midwifery-led care safe in any institution is
             their constant attention and evaluation of a woman's progress in labor. Although maternity
             centers lack medically trained personnel, midwives are specifically trained to work in the field
             they are in and are the best at what they do. They are trained to perceive all fatal signs
             immediately and are instructed to convey the necessary action when and if a problem occurs
