Fighting Digital Piracy

The many forms of software piracy and the techniques to combat them that exist today are not only morally wrong and unfair, but it benefits no one by threatening both the producers' and consumers' way of life forever. Pirates continue to hack software constantly, driving major companies and record labels to strive harder to find ways to stop them. It is a never-ending race that will eventually result in the destruction of both the consumer and producer. One of the most prominent forms of piracy in today's society is the sharing of music files and CDs online. This is one of the more well-known kinds of piracy today, with strong ties to the legal issues involving record companies, artists, and the people who buy the music. Millions of people on the internet every day share files with each other that were ripped from music CDs only each individual was licensed to have. Many people would argue that illegally copying music is morally wrong, yet many of those still continue to do it. Our society has reached the point that it does not matter if it is okay how you get something, only that you get it for free. From the consumer's point of view, it makes perfect sense to copy and share music with everyone you can reach over the internet

If someone is taking a vacation far away where there is no electricity or distractions so that they can work on an important paper and something goes wrong to where they must reinstall a piece of software, they will not be able to use it. This would not stop everyone, but it would stop many, especially the expert hackers and pirates who do so to prove a point. Hackers and pirates from all over the world are using these sites to help each other and others to spread the threat of piracy to the United States and other countries which are cracking down on software piracy. Both sides, the artists and the pirates, eliminate each other. There are also perfectly legal sites in the United States with methods and programs available to create perfect copies of CDs and DVDs. Recently people have lost sight of their morals and do not care who they hurt when they obtain games and other media illegally. It is someone stealing what does not belong to them and it must be stopped, but not by placing physical restrictions on CDs or more laws. It is a never-ending battle that cannot be won. Companies are now finally realizing the growing problem with easily reading CDs and DVDs and are now adding new ways to make it more difficult. The lawyers simply say that all over the internet is "too many. For example, for the game Unreal Tournament 2003, and many others like it, product keys are issued with each CD sold. With frustrated artists tired of having no credit for their work and software companies with little or no money whatsoever to play, no one will have any opportunities for work or play. Microsoft not only keeps a record of the specific parts and model of your computer, but also tracks changes to your hardware. If it is not activated first, then it will not function.
