The movie Hoosiers is based on a small town's basketball team. The team gets a new coach that's style does not necessarily fit with the team. He is a very head strong individual, who believes his word is the last word and there is no disgusting it. If one of the players disagrees with him, he has no hesitation in telling them to leave. When it came to making friends in the town, he had a lot of difficulties because they town did not agree with his style of coaching. There was one man who knew a lot about basketball and respected what the coach was trying to accomplish. The only problem with this man was that he was the town drunk and one of the players father. The team consisted of boys who all knew each other and had their own system when it came to playing basketball. The first team practice was not what was to be expected causing two of the boys to walk out and quit the team. When it comes to a group working together it is important to understand that cooperation and competition are two fundamental dynamics that come into play. The players attempt to make suggestions in the game but the coach wants nothing to hear of it, and it is his way. The players and town were steching on the coaches style and were not us to the coaching style and I have played with kids how would have walked out of practice like the two did at the beginning of the movie. One example of a cooperation groups was a few years ago in high school on the basketball team the coach split the team into three groups the first six the top players, the second six which wer the back up players and three others who rotated in the other groups ever thing was split the lockers on the bus we did not like the other groups and the coach encouraged this he thought that it would make the back ups work harder and the starts would work to keep there job but it made us concentric more on are back up and trying to hard and made us forget about the other team are record was 10 and 18. Of all the different systems that were used in the movie, cooperation was the most successful tactic. I have been in a few or both cooperation and competition groups, and in all I fell like the cooperation groups workout the best for me. I have played sports all my life I have been on tons of teams with dozens of coaches and ever team was ran in a different way and ever coach had a different way to coach and personality. The movie was done in a realistic pattern to the real life of high level athlete teams especially in a small town. The head coach makes the decision to adapt competitiveness in the first half of the movie. The coach gives an idea and senses that the players do not like the play and listens to a suggestion that one of the boys gives him and goes with it. When the best player in the town decided to play he said that he would only play for that coach and that changed to view of the town. In the movie, there are individuals who are trying to work together and there are people who are trying to work for themselves. As the season goes on, they start to win more and more. Both systems can work, but cooperation is the most successful attempt because there is a group of people working towards the same goal together, not like in competition when people are more working for personal gain, not the best interest of the group. I think with any group of people a team at work, school it is the same if you get a new leader and they come out with a style that the group is not us to and the leader is asking for 100% and is demanding they do want they say and not caring if some members leave the group. I believe that it worked out that way because everyone wanted the same goal and once they saw that working together was the best way to achieve it there was no looking back.
