In today's business world, outsourcing has become and integral part of how an organization may succeed or fail. Whether it is in the field of information technology (IT) or general business applications, outsourcing can offer a way for companies to increase profits while maximizing services for its customers as well as employees. This paper will address some of the issues that a business would consider when deciding whether or not to choose to outsource.
             The first area that a company might start to look at would be what factors might impact their decision to, or not to, outsource some or all of the duties associated with IT. To answer the question of why a company might consider outsourcing, a small list of questions should be asked by the IT administrator or director. Globevale, Inc. has proposed a listing of inquiries to look at. First, is the IT department spending too much time on day-to-day operations such as problem solving, trouble shooting, and maintenance instead of planning for the future or possessing some type of best-in-class technology? Second, is the growth of the company (as well as the industry) expanding so rapidly that the organization is having trouble keeping up with the latest technology? Third, is the cost of maintaining the IT department in part, or in whole, too expensive? (Globevale.com, 2004)
             Of course, these are only a few of the many questions that can be asked, however, if the answer is yes to any or all of these questions then the choice to outsource may be a wise one. Yet, the existence of these issues within an organization might not be enough to warrant a solution to outsource.
