Our Once Distant World has become a Connected Global Village
             Marshall McLuhan, a famous Canadian Author, once stated that the world is becoming more and more like a global village. Our advances in technology are making communicating throughout the earth a simpler and simpler task, almost as easy as if we were all living in a small village. Communication tasks that were once unthinkable are now performed as easily as pressing and clicking a few buttons. Making use of our new technology, everywhere around the earth is accessible. We can communicate with people literally on the other side of the earth with the littlest of effort. With our current levels of communication, talking with a relative in another country is just as easy as talking with a next-door neighbour. Our technological improvements include a lot of factors such as changes in the phone system, a major advancement that is bringing communication to extraordinary levels. Improvements and advancements on the Internet are also increasing the amount of communication made, broadening the possible uses as well. Lastly, convergent technologies are mixing the best traits of previously independent technologies, making more diverse and more interesting ways of communicating ideas. I agree with McLuhan that the world is becoming more and more intertwined with an amazing web, linking all the places in the world with one another.
