MICROTEACHING OBSERVATION
I am writing the paper as a peer/participant of a feedback session. The topic of the lesson was 'Some, any - exercises'. The lesson lasted 45 minutes. The observation took place at grammar school; it was a group of fourteen students of the second grade. Their level of the language was intermediate. The main aim of the lesson was practicing the usage of 'some' and 'any' with countable and uncountable nouns. There was also some new vocabulary introduced and they referred mainly to 'some' and 'any' expressions, for instance, 'Give me some sugar', 'Is there any milk in a fridge?.'Various activities were arranged during that lesson. At the beginning, students had to read aloud their homework on countable and uncountable nouns. Then, they
There weren't any problems with understanding tasks by students because the teacher explained everything in a clear way. I also concluded that a teacher should remember to plan various tasks during a lesson because the same type of a task, done one by one, will easily make students bored. In that way all the learners could understand what they are suppose to do now. The teacher managed to create a student-friendly atmosphere so the students didn't feel stressed. I learnt from that observation that it is crucial to create a nice atmosphere in a class. Finally, I observed that it is very important for a teacher to be well organized. This means to communicate clear goals, prepare well for all teaching and learning activities, and give prompt opinion to students on their progress. I enjoyed how the lesson was run. If they had any questions, or weren't sure of their answers, the teacher tried to give a hint and allow students to correct the answer on their own. This is most likely to happen when both the teacher and the teaching of the course are well organised. This made them work more effective and they were really engaged in what they were doing. I think that the lesson I observed was beneficial for me, and I wish that in my future teaching experience, I will be able to create such a motivating atmosphere in a classroom as a mentioned teacher had managed to. were working in pairs and reading dialogues from their textbooks. First she spoke in English and then repeated everything in Polish.
