a child called it
Child abuse is fast becoming a trend in today's society. The book "A Child Called It" by David Pelzer thought light on this issue...by telling his story. It was a family of five, a Mom, Dad, and three sons, whose lives were fulfilled with love and care. In this story Dave, the oldest son is the main character along with his mother, Catherine. Is the story of a young boy who, in order to survive, must triumph over the physical, emotional, and medical abuse created by his mother. The exploitation of alcohol plays an important role in the abuse by the mother and the neglect to see and the courage to intervene the problems by Dave's father. Dave considered the abuse he endur
One of the things I enjoyed and always found myself grinning about was the spunk that Dave had. It begins with what ended the torment and pain, and continues with the years prior. The story takes a circular trip around the many years of abuse. The few people who took notice were David's teachers and the school nurse. When he is starting to fifth grade he said that "I hate myself", because he realize that his mother said she was hate herself because of him. I find the unreported instances observed by the public to be just as substantial a crime as the child abusers themselves. And No One Heard, the outside world does nothing to help out a small child suffering from various forms of abuse. But he always tried to be one small step ahead of her. The purpose of the abuse seems to be to do with control, rather than punishment.
